Everyone is competing hard for entrance exams, let it in the field of Engineering, Medical or even Jobs.

There is no substitute for hard-work but just hard-work is not enough.

You need to put in your hard work smartly to convert it to success. From my personal experience of cracking IIT-JEE, Bitsat and other State Engineering Entrance Exam I will share some insights which will definitely help you to become a better performer than today.

I used to self-study for about 8 hours a day while preparing for JEE. Although JEE is a tough nut to crack but I managed to crack it. After getting in IIT and meeting with thousands of others who also cracked the same exam I did, I realized that many cracked it with much lesser effort

Life is too short to learn from your mistakes, so learn from others. What did they do differently?

First things first

  1. Syllabus of JEE, Bits and other Engineering exams are almost the same, the thing that matters is the approach for exams changes.
  2. No question is asked from outside the syllabus, so before preparing for any exam look through the syllabus very carefully and see what are the topics in your book or study material that you should eliminate to study.
  3. One of the biggest mistake aspirants commit and it is a major chunk that decides whether you will be selected or not. Every exam asks 80% of its questions from 50% of its syllabus. So going through the past year papers from time to time and analyzing it carefully to understand the weightage of those topics could reduce your workload and efficiency.
  4. Devote more time in your studies to those chapters and topics which have more weightage and carry more marks. Also, do cover those topics which are sure to be asked in your exams (like logic gates) and can be prepared in lesser time. Don’t run after completing a chapter or subject thoroughly keeping scoring chapters and topics at stake
  5. Devote more and more time practicing questions. It’s not the theory that decides your selection but your application of theory part. JEE tests your problem-solving ability and it will be tested throughout your degree too. So, don’t shy away with it, face it head-on.
  6. Join a test series, you are running a race. In an all India Test series, you will get to know your approximate position in the race. You can’t run your own race alone. How can you know whether you are losing the race or winning unless you compare it with others? I highly recommend you to join Allen ALL INDIA test series. It gives a comparative analysis of your performance with your past performance and also with other competitors.
  7. Don’t let stress take over you. Many times it will happen that you will feel low or you feel like you are not able to catch up with the course, it’s not a time to feel stressed and stop studying, there are about a million people like you who also feel stressed and low but they won’t stop either you have to. If you stop that ruthless crowd will not wait for you and will move ahead crushing you. Stress should motivate you to study more and more not hold you back from studying.

Keep Studying
