Life Before and After JEE
JEE: Wake up at 4 am
IIT: Sleep at 4 am
JEE: Namesake phones with no internet access
IIT: Free Wi-fi
JEE: “I missed class today coz of practicals in school. What was taught?”
IIT: “I’m not attending class today. Can you please mark my attendance for me?”
JEE: Study for two years before the D-Day
IIT: Study for two weeks before the exams (Edit: it’s two days before the exams but no intentions of making IITians sound overly carefree)
JEE: Zero social life and extra academics
IIT: Organising events, meeting new people and even celebrities during fests
JEE: Lucky to get to play a sport
IIT: Gymkhana full of courts
JEE: Mom: “How much did you score in this week’s mock test?”
IIT: Mom: “Are you going with your friends to Darjeeling or Manali?”
JEE: Stay hungry when staying up late, studying
IIT: 24X7 available midnight snacks in canteens that close at 3 am and eateries that open at 3 am
JEE: Clustered around the teacher a day before the exam, clarifying doubts
IIT: Clustered around the smart wingmate before the exam, being taught
JEE: I’m the topper of my institute
IIT: I wonder how I used to be a topper back then
JEE: Not allowed to step outside after 10 pm
IIT: Run-throughs of shows tend to go up to 2 am and even 7 am at times
JEE: Alarm clocks, textbooks on PDE, AMINES, & solving 100 problems a day
IIT: Rackets, PDF’s, ANIME and watching a 100 movies a day (you get the hyperbole)
JEE: Learn physics, chemistry, and mathematics
IIT: Learn any new skill you wish to
That’s how life goes for the complete time students spend in IITs. In short, it’s very easy to lead a relaxed and fulfilling life at IITs. Consider it your reward after 2–3 years of hard work. You can pursue your future goals and have fun at the same time.
Aim high and keep your feet grounded. And most importantly, have fun and keep rocking!! You’ll soon set the IIT on fire!
